Today we delve into the unique union of self-awareness and self-esteem, two pivotal components of the human psyche that lay further the groundwork for empowerment and self-improvement. What are they exactly? Self-awareness illuminates our understanding of ourselves. It is a conscious knowledge of our own character, feelings, motives, desires. Think of it as a mirror of your soul, presenting an altered image of your thoughts. Self-esteem refers to the perception you have of your own worth. The American Psychological Association emphasizes that both self-awareness and self-esteem play significant roles in our psychological well-being. They are not just self-help buzzwords. They are research-backed elements litter linked to our mental health state. One notable research done in 2019 by the journal Mindfulness noted a positive correlation between increased self-awareness and improved mental health outcomes. Self-awareness reported lower stress levels and better overall psychological well-being. Meanwhile, the UK Mental Health Foundation establishes a clear link between low self-esteem and higher susceptibility towards mental health problems like depression and anxiety disorders.
Speaker 1:Increasing one's self-awareness and boosting self-esteem sit at the heart of personal growth. It's essential to develop a deeper understanding of ourselves and embrace the power of self-love. So how can we foster self-awareness? Begin by posing honest questions to yourself. Why did you react a certain way? What triggered that emotion? Analyzing these perspectives will bring about shifts in your consciousness and thoughts and improve your emotional intelligence when it comes to building up self-esteem, overcoming inclination towards negative thinking. This can be achieved by cataloging your strengths achievements and refer back to these whenever you grapple with self-doubt.

Mental health prevalence according to the World Health Organization, nearly one in four people worldwide will be affected by mental health or neurological disorder at some point in their lives. 2. The impact of low self-esteem the UK Mental Health Foundation reports that low self-esteem is linked to the higher risk of mental health problems such as depression and anxiety. 3. The effectiveness of mindfulness practices 2019 study published in the Mindfulness Journal. I already covered that one. 4. The role of emotional intelligence A 2020 research paper published in frontiers of Psychological found strong links between emotional intelligence and improved mental health outcomes.

Impact positive self-perception on health Mayo Clinic reports that positive self-esteem leads to a better physical health, more fulfilling relationships and stronger resilience against stress.
